Definition
A quadriporticus is a courtyard, garden or open space enclosed by a portico or colonnade on all four sides. Such enclosures were used in Roman theatres, public buildings, gardens and places of exercise.
The word is formed from Latin quadri meaning "fourfold" and porticus meaning "portico" or "colonnade".
